Family sessions are my favorite for a myriad of reasons. I’m a big fan of the snuggles, of the chasing around, of the silly, of the shy kids who need a minute to figure me out. A big fan of your partner who might seem a little annoyed to be there at first, a fan of letting the kids climb trees, wrapping them up in your arms, throwing them up in the air and looking very odd while playing peek-a-boo behind my camera to elicit the crack of a smile they might be holding in. I think as a parent, as a parter, as a son/daughter the tenderness of wrapping your arms around each other is something we will always hold onto. I’m obsessed with the hugging pictures. It is such an important way of showing each other tenderness, kindness, playfulness and security and I want to capture that and package it up so you never forget what it felt like to embrace those little arms or the arms of someone you’ve been with for 25 years. I am so passionate about photographing families. Simple and Happy, that’s what I strive to give you.

I’m proud to say I offer a discounted rate to families that come back to me. I love to see you year after year. I also offer lifestyle newborn sessions, maternity, seniors and generational family portraits.

The Details:

- 45 minute on-location session near Grand Rapids and beyond (with a travel fee.)
- Recommended 1/2 hour addition for larger families or kiddos that need some time to warm up.
- Online gallery with edited images + hi-res download + printing rights. I encourage you to order prints right through your gallery (anyone you share the link with can do the same) but I do also give other printing recs.
- Expect 75 - 150 final images back about 2 weeks after your session date.

From when your babies are squishy, to when your toddlers are being so naughty that you think “there’s no WAY we got any pictures of them smiling (until you see your final gallery), to when that awkward phase hits, to when I make you do kissy faces to each other and you feel like haven't touched each others faces in weeks, to when the romance is real and you are loving the phase of life you are in, I love being there for it all.

 The Whole Family
I believe that when it comes to family pictures the traditional portrait matters as much as the lifestyle candid. I aim to give you both. During these sessions I encourage the kids to play and the families to snuggle up. The beautiful memories of the cousins playing together as kids will be just as cherished as the big shot of everyone looking at the camera. Aside from the big group shot, during these sessions I make time to photograph each individual family, couples, siblings, grandparents and the grandkids and so on. I love to get any and every combo.

Depending on the size of the group, these sessions usually take about one hour to 90 minutes. I love to photograph these at one of your family homes, a park, the beach or I highly recommend renting somewhere like the Grand Rapids Downtown Market to make sure all of that coordinating doesn’t get squashed by some rain.

I also recommend buddying them up to a family event. Whether you are all getting together for your Dad’s birthday or your Grandmas 90th birthday party, I’d love to be there. You can also add additional time for event coverage. Contact me for a quote.

 Lifestyle Newborn
So you just welcomed a new babe to the family (or you put off newborn pictures and that babe is creeping up on 6 months). I love squishy little new babies and I’d be honored to be welcomed into your home to document your new or growing family. These sessions are done in-home and my approach is simply documenting you all together just as you are.
